About this site
Plain dog behavior help, researched in the open
Dog Behavior Basics is a small educational site about everyday dog behavior. We publish practical guides for problems such as leash pulling, barking, and destructive chewing, and research based overviews of online training courses.
What we publish
Our training guides use standard positive reinforcement principles: reward the behavior you want, manage the environment while learning is underway, increase difficulty in small steps, and avoid methods based on pain, fear, or intimidation. We aim for steps a normal household can repeat, not complicated routines that only work in a training hall.
Start with our guides on leash pulling, barking, and destructive chewing.
How reviews are researched
For a course review, we look at public information from the vendor and payment platform, including the creator's stated credentials, course curriculum, training methods, price, guarantee, and the problems the course claims to address. We compare those claims with widely accepted training practice and note limits that a sales page may not emphasize, such as the need for owner consistency or in person help for aggression.
We separate facts from judgment. A lesson list or price is a fact to verify against the public offer. A statement that a course may suit beginners is an editorial judgment, and we explain the reasoning rather than dressing it up as a measured result.
The no purchase honesty note
We have not purchased Brain Training for Dogs. Our review of Brain Training for Dogs is a research summary, not a hands on test. It does not claim personal use, personal results, student outcomes, or invented testimonials. If that status changes in the future, the review must be updated before any first hand language is used.
That limitation matters. A research overview can check credentials, methods, curriculum, and terms. It cannot honestly judge video quality, lesson pacing, customer support, or how easy the program is to follow day by day. We would rather state that gap than hide it.
How the site earns money
Some outbound links are affiliate links. If a reader buys through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to the reader. That relationship is disclosed on the review page, in every page footer, and on the dedicated affiliate disclosure page. Affiliate income does not turn a research summary into a personal test, and it does not remove weaknesses or limits from a review.
Safety note
Online information cannot diagnose pain, illness, anxiety, or dangerous behavior. For biting, aggression, severe fear, sudden behavior changes, or any risk to people or animals, work with a veterinarian and a qualified local trainer or behavior professional.
